Hint: It’s easier than you think (and you don’t need to wake up at 5 a.m.).

When people think of daily meditation routines, they often imagine early wake-ups, silent retreats, or hours of sitting cross-legged on the floor. But that’s not real life.

Here’s the truth: Vedic Meditation fits YOU, not the other way around.

I know this because I live it every day. I’m a mom, a teacher, a business owner, and a human navigating the same busy world you are. And while I love my practice, I don’t live in a monastery. I live in the modern world.

This blog gives you a look behind the curtain—an honest view of how I incorporate meditation into my day. No perfection required. Just calm, clarity, and flexibility.

If you’re looking for a way to make meditation part of your own day, this post will show you how it can be done.

My Morning Meditation: Start With Stillness (Before the World Gets Loud)

Why It Matters:

The first 30 minutes of your day are like the prologue to a great story—they set the tone for everything that follows. If you start with calm, you carry it with you. If you start with stress (scrolling your phone), you’ll carry that too.

How I Do It:

  • Time: Around 6:00 a.m. (but I don’t stress about it).
  • Location: A chair in my bedroom (yes, I meditate right after I wake up – AND before I see or talk to anyone in my house).
  • My Ritual: I skip the phone scroll, sit down with a cozy blanket, close my eyes, and meditate for 20 minutes.

This 20-minute session is like a mental reboot. By the time I’m done, I feel ready to engage with the world—emails, kids, and everything in between. I’m more patient, clear, and present.

Want to create your own morning meditation routine?

Start simple. No special chair required. Sit where you feel comfortable and give yourself 20 minutes. If you’re still not sure how to start, you can learn more about how Vedic Meditation works in my blog post Vedic Meditation: Your Questions Answered.

My Midday Meditation (about 6 hours after the first meditation): When I Need a Reset (Not More Coffee)

Why It Matters:

By the middle of the day, you’ve already answered emails, made decisions, and dealt with the mental load of daily life. If you don’t give your mind a break, burnout starts to build.

How I Do It:

  • Time: Usually an hour or two after lunch (but it shifts based on my schedule).
  • Location: Sometimes at my desk, sometimes in my car (yes, my car is a mini meditation studio).
  • My Ritual: 20 minutes, no timer needed because the body knows when to come out, eyes closed. I reset my nervous system and am energized while the world keeps moving. It’s like getting two days for the price of one.

This session is what keeps me from feeling drained at 3 p.m. Instead of relying on caffeine, I rely on calm. It’s like giving my brain a second wind—except it’s not fueled by coffee; it’s fueled by clarity. (And, if I want an espresso, I have one. This practice is not about deprivation; it’s about building life-supporting practices that facilitate frictionless living!)

Want to try it?

Here’s a simple tip: If you have time to scroll, you have time to meditate. Use 20 minutes you’d normally spend on social media and dedicate it to something that feeds your mind, not drains it.

If you want more practical advice on how to fit meditation into your day, check out my post on Stress Isn’t Supposed to Be Your Default Setting It explains how meditation can improve your mental clarity, reduce stress, and even help you sleep better.

Twenty Minutes, Twice a day – It’s that simple

Why It Matters:

Every day, we accumulate stress, like dust collecting on a shelf. Evening meditation is how I wipe the shelf clean before bed. If I don’t, that stress gets carried into my sleep (and no one needs that). Meditating twice daily will relieve the body of more stress than you can accumulate. AND YOU’LL FEEL IT!

Why it works:

This practice isn’t about “winding down.” It’s about clearing out. My nervous system releases the stress it picks up throughout the day, meaning I sleep better, think clearer, and wake up refreshed.

Want to sleep better?

ALL of my students who have experienced any symptoms of insomnia – difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep – have reported a dramatic improvement in their sleep in the first week of practicing meditation! If you’re interested in how meditation affects sleep, I go deeper into it in my post on Stress Isn’t Supposed to Be Your Default Setting.

Balancing Work, Life, and Meditation (No Perfection Required)

Here’s the truth:

Some days, it will take a little strategizing to figure out when you can get that second meditation in because you have meetings, unexpected company, a date, or something of that sort. Or you may wake up a little late and have to cut something out of your morning routine to get the meditation in. Whatever it takes to get to the chair twice a day, do it. It’s easy enough to get 20 minutes in. You won’t regret bringing your best self into all that you do.

And that’s okay.

The goal isn’t perfection—it’s practice. This is one of the things I love most about Vedic Meditation. It works with you, not against you. No stress. No guilt. Just small moments of calm, exactly when you need them.

If you’ve felt like there’s “no time” for meditation, I’m here to tell you there is. You just have to learn how to see it. Don’t forget, as your teacher, I offer a lifetime of support for moments just like this. Contact me anytime, and we can strategize two meditations a day. Trust me, I ran a bi-coastal business with 60 employees for 22 years, during which time I got married, had two babies, etc. I know how to get creative with fitting in the twice-daily practice.

Want to Build Your Own Daily Meditation Routine? Here’s How.

If you’d like to create your own daily meditation routine—morning and midday—I’d love to help. In my Vedic Meditation course, you’ll learn everything you need to build a practice that works for you (not against you).

No perfection. Once you take the four-day “Learn to Meditate” course, you will know exactly how to meditate. But there is no “right way” to fit it in. Just calm, clarity, and support from me, every step of the way.
